Cactus workshops show you how to spend your time profitably, whether you plan to work with a teacher, a language informant, fellow learner or on your own.

Learners are encouraged to attend further 2-day workshops periodically or join regular lunch-time, "happy hour" or early morning sessions (typically of 2 hours each) with fellow learners and native language informants.

Communication, information, cultural exchange workshops for two-nation team building.

Where participants need to meet and exchange ideas with new partners or consolidate existing relationships, Focus Reciprocal Workshops © offer a stimulating framework for language learning.

Participants are divided into two-nation teams, typically of four people, with each team having a specific project to discuss and report back to the group.

The task is to make a presentation in the other group's language.

The format allows for participation by all levels of learners, as those knowing nothing of the other language can be a resource for the more-advanced participants.

These two teams don't just learn each other's language but the complete range of cultural and social behaviours relating to those languages. The facilitator (a member of Cactus Team) provides support in finding strategies to "negotiate meanings" and overcome communication difficulties.
